The modernisation of Berlin’s largest shopping centre, Gropius Passagen in Neukölln, requires exceptional planning and coordination. To support this, the general planner and contractor established the project headquarters high on the roof of the shopping centre, using 18 combined ELA office containers. These containers provide the essential infrastructure needed for a project of this scale.
The ELA container system is divided into meeting rooms and lounges, offices, a reception area and other functional spaces. ELA sanitary containers were also integrated into the system.
There was sufficient space on the shopping centre’s parking level to create a comprehensive project headquarters using modular room containers. “The individual containers were lifted onto the roof of Gropius Passagen by crane,” explains ELA Area Sales Manager Marc Richter. “The modules were then assembled, and the completed system was handed over to the customer.”
“As parking levels can become extremely hot during the summer months, air conditioning was one of the key considerations during the planning phase,” says Richter. A generous number of split air-conditioning units, together with special sun-protection roofs, proved to be the ideal solution, as the customer confirms: “The environmental concept of the container system has delivered real benefits. We are delighted with the quality of the ELA containers and will certainly return.”
“Providing personalised customer support is essential,” says Richter. “Through joint site visits and discussions, the customer’s requirements for the container system quickly become clear, allowing us to put together a tailored proposal in a very short time.” This is precisely why ELA containers, available for hire or purchase, are a popular space solution on building sites of all kinds.
