Permanent facility (purchased modular asset)

Following promotion to Germany’s second division, SC Preußen Münster entered a period of significant development both on the pitch and across its wider club infrastructure.

As part of its move into professional football, the club invested in a modern youth development centre designed to meet the requirements of the German Football League (DFL) for first and second division clubs, while creating the foundations for high-quality and sustainable talent development.

A traditional construction project using conventional building methods could not be delivered within the required timeframe. However, the club required a high-quality facility that offered strong functionality, reflected its identity and could support academy operations for many years to come.

To achieve this, SC Preußen Münster selected a bespoke modular building solution, purchased outright, providing a central base for the club’s youth development programme.

The facility is used by academy teams from U12 through to U23, as well as staff from different areas of the organisation. It brings together coaching, administration, player development and support services, creating a central hub for the club’s daily academy operations.

I’m delighted with the outcome because it allowed us to achieve a high-quality standard within a very short timeframe. ELA provided dependable support throughout the project, and we developed a strong working partnership.

The modular facility consists of 20 units arranged over two storeys, providing approximately 340m² of usable floor space.

The upper floor is accessed via an internal staircase, while an additional external staircase provides a dedicated emergency escape route. A glazed entrance door with panic hardware, together with an integrated entrance canopy, creates a safe and welcoming main entrance.

The internal layout has been designed around the club’s operational requirements, incorporating:

  • + dedicated coaching offices
  • + meeting rooms
  • + a kitchen and welfare area
  • + physiotherapy and treatment rooms
  • + changing facilities

The design creates efficient working arrangements, short travel distances between areas and a comfortable environment for players, coaches and staff.

A key feature of the modular facility is the activation room, located on the ground floor, which has been developed as a dedicated athletic performance and training area.

A specialist sports floor was installed to provide ideal conditions for strength and conditioning work, activation sessions and player recovery activities.

The facility also includes secondary roof modules with an integrated rainwater drainage system. This provides controlled water management and additional protection for the building, while also creating the technical foundation for the club’s planned photovoltaic installation.

The project demonstrates how modern modular construction can deliver a solution that is both highly functional and sustainable.

The external appearance was also designed to integrate with the club’s surroundings and identity. The modules feature a pure white finish, while the frames are finished in anthracite, reflecting SC Preußen Münster’s club colours.

The club made the decision to purchase the modular facility to provide a long-term asset supporting its academy development strategy for many years to come.

ELA Container Sales worked closely with SC Preußen Münster to transform the club’s requirements into a fully bespoke modular building solution.

“Because the facility was planned for permanent use, we were able to customise the building extensively. From the initial design stage through to final handover, the entire process was delivered smoothly,” said Jeldrik Trecksler, Sales and Project Manager at ELA Container Sales GmbH.

The completed facility provides SC Preußen Münster with a future-ready academy building that integrates seamlessly into the club’s daily operations and enabled the organisation to meet DFL academy requirements within the required timeframe.

The opportunities created here are ideal for developing young players, providing a welcoming environment and bringing everyone together. This modular facility is now the perfect base for both our staff and players.
